Last night the much plugged Alcatraz part 1 was screened on Really.
It was supposed to have audio description. the little pips told me that it
was in the program guide, but apparently Really forgot to switch it on as
there were no audio described scenes at all.
If broadcasters cannot get this right they will be just ignored by us. Bad
information is worse than no information at all, in my view.
Often, Film 4 will say, subtitles but it will also have AD with no
information saying it has it.Often, Movie Mix will screen a film that I know
has AD and it has not got it on the showing.
I guess they cannot get away with such cock ups in subtitles as its rather
obvious, but it seems AD is the poor relation yet there is anow a heck of a
lot of people making use of it, or not as last night showed!
