It looks like another government mess-up.
I live in North Yorks but had need to contact NY Police a few
days ago whilst in Sheffield. The 0845 number is no longer
available so dialled 101 option 1 for 'other forces.' The options
were Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Humberside, West Yorkshire and
Greater Manchester. North Yorks was not available even though it
does have a boundary with South Yorks.
When I got home I tried the same with North Yorks. Here the
options were West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire (!) Humberside,
Cleveland, Durham, and Lancashire. No mention of Cummbria with
which North Yorks has a significant boundary - much graeter than
that with South Yorks.
Obviously those who 'designed' these options had no technical
understanding that a mobile can be in one county but connected by
a mast in another. Consistency? Pah!
(Yes I know its TOT with uk.t.dtv but I want Bill to have a
chance to comment!)
