Not in the USA: 2012 Jaguar XF 3.0L Diesel S

I have distinct memories of our Four Seasons 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged, from the good, to the bad, to the ugly. The leader in the good camp was no doubt the class leading steering and chassis. The XF had a magnificent (and rare) balance of body control, ride quality, and driver involvement. The steering was [...]

2011 Toyota Venza V-6 AWD

On a rational level, the Toyota Venza is a solid choice for a five-seat crossover.

On a rational level, the Toyota Venza is a solid choice for a five-seat crossover. It has lots of interior room and is reasonably stylish. The only downside, then, is that the driving experience is utterly forgettable. The throttle and transmission are programmed to be incredibly soft and lethargic, which makes the Venza feel slow and hesitant. As is the case with cars like the Toyota Camry, the Venza seems designed for the type of person who simply wants reliable and comfortable transportation from one place to another. That's fine, but someone who actually enjoys driving cars will find the Venza terrifically dull.

A badly needed update.

With less than a month until this year's Geneva Motor Show, Mitsubishi has announced that it will use the show to introduce the next-generation Outlander. The new midsize crossover is designed to be more fuel-efficient and offer more technology than the current Mitsubishi Outlander.

A new small Acura, but this time on America’s terms.

For luxury automakers, it seems the next big thing is -- ironically -- small cars. Premium brands are quickly warming up to the idea of well-equipped C-segment models in order to snag young, first-time luxury buyers; empty nesters on a downsizing spree; or some combination of the two. Acura’s no exception to this trend, and hopes to play in the growing segment with the new 2013 ILX sedan, which debuts this week at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.

Hamilton: Rosberg deserved my podium

Nico Rosberg and Lewis HamiltonLewis Hamilton has praised Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg for holding station behind him in the Malaysian Grand Prix and has not ruled out repaying the favour in future.

Hamilton challenged the Red Bulls early in the race, with Rosberg running in fourth, but fuel and tyre concerns meant he had to slow down.

That allowed Rosberg to close in and the German requested he be allowed through into third.

The team refused and told him to hold position, allowing Hamilton to score his first podium since joining Mercedes.

“If I’m honest I feel Nico should be standing here,” said Hamilton on the podium. “He had better pace through the race.

“We were racing very hard to keep up with Red Bull. We were close but on the knife-edge and I used too much fuel.

“It’s very difficult to make the tyres last too, particularly for me today. I wasn’t able to make them last as long as I wanted, and was fuel saving from an early point in the race, which lost me a lot of time.

“I don’t know what the situation was with Nico, but I can do a better job looking after tyres.”

Hamilton also said he would speak to Rosberg and could pay him back in future.

“He is a great team-mate,” added Hamilton. “I will speak to the team, or apologise. I said to him he did a fantastic job.

“Nico deserved to be where I am. With the position in the championship the team thought it was logical to stay in position, but Nico drove a smarter and more controlled race than me today.

“Would I let him past in the future? I probably would.”

Busch wins as Logano, Hamlin clash

Kyle Busch leads Fontana NASCAR raceKyle Busch snatched victory in the Fontana NASCAR Sprint Cup race as bitter foes Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin collided fighting for the lead on the last lap.

Former Joe Gibbs Racing team-mates Hamlin and Logano, the latter now at Penske, had become embroiled in a fierce row after a tangle at Bristol a week ago.

They then ended up head to head for victory at Fontana, beginning the final lap side by side, only to clash at Turn 3.

Logano slid into the outside wall while Hamlin made heavy head-on contact with the inside barrier. Hamlin got out of his car unaided but was clearly in discomfort and was taken from the scene by ambulance for further checks.

There was further drama to come post-race, as Logano was accosted in the pitlane by an enraged Tony Stewart, who he blocked at the final restart.

Busch and Logano had dominated most of the race, working their way back to the front whatever strategies others employed.

They appeared vulnerable at the last restart with 10 laps to go as most cars behind had just pitted for fresh tyres.

Hamlin was the fastest of that group, charging to the front to begin his fateful battle with Logano.

Busch swept around both as they banged doors, and his Gibbs Toyota was clearly ahead even before they spun.

Dale Earnhardt Jr recovered from a slow mid-race pitstop to finish second for Hendrick, claiming the points lead as Jimmie Johnson and an overheating Brad Keselowski could only manage 12th and 23rd respectively.

Kurt Busch fought for the lead several times and ended up third in his Furniture Row entry. He was one of several drivers who needed repairs early on after sliding into the wall on oil from Timmy Hill’s wilting Ford.

Roush Fenway duo Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle completed the top five, the latter despite starting at the back due to an engine change.

Logano’s mangled car slid across the line in sixth, just ahead of early leader Matt Kenseth.
